Built in 1848, the Joseph T. Smitherman Historic Building has been previously utilized as a school, a hospital and the county courthouse. The restored antebellum structure displays collections of Civil War memorabilia and antiques while surrounding the building is a serene park featuring shaded brick walkways and fountains.
